Happy winter holidays

To all my friends, acquaintances and barely-know-yous busy planning your winter holidays, you should know that just as it's rude to ask doctors and lawyers in social spaces for professional advice, it's irritating for travel journalists to be asked by all who know them for advice on 'where to go' and for help in making bookings. I am not a travel agent but a travel journalist. I comb the country to find known and unknown destinations, send writers and researchers there, check them out and publish at length about them. I put months of hard work into making very good travel guide books that are widely available and not prohibitively priced. Every contact number you need to visit these places are in these books. All the home work has been done for you. All you have to do is read and choose. So unless you are related to me through blood or queer family, please buy my books and make your own decisions. Don't take it personally, but I have waaaay too much work to do to also have to advise you on holidays and do your train, plane and jeep safari bookings. Happy holidays.
